Some wedding bookings begin with a date and a venue. Cathal and Aoife’s started a little differently.
Cathal first contacted Fun 21 Casino Hire back in January, before the couple had even settled on their wedding date or chosen a venue. There was, however, one thing he already knew.
The fun casino was a must.
Fast-forward to their wedding day in September at the beautiful Four Seasons Hotel in Carlingford, and the new Mr & Mrs Fegan had put together an evening packed with entertainment, surprises and some seriously competitive guests.
A Beautiful Wedding Setting in Carlingford
Carlingford sits in Co. Louth just across the lough from Co. Down. Set beneath the Cooley Mountains and overlooking Carlingford Lough, the Four Seasons Hotel enjoys a spectacular location for a wedding celebration. The hotel combines its scenic Carlingford surroundings with impressive modern wedding spaces, making it an ideal backdrop for a day built around bringing family and friends together.
And Cathal and Aoife certainly had plenty planned for theirs.
Keeping the Energy High After Dinner
Rather than allowing the usual post-dinner lull to creep in, DJ Greener was already keeping the room buzzing as MC, getting guests involved in his interactive dinner entertainment and games.
Greener has become well known on the Northern Ireland wedding scene for doing much more than simply playing music. His meal entertainment brings guests into the action with games and challenges designed to create plenty of laughs and interaction around the tables.
By the time dinner was coming to an end, some particularly proud table captains were still wearing their captain armbands – something that would become very noticeable once the casino opened!
But while all this was happening, something else was going on out of sight.
A Casino Hidden Behind the Curtain
Behind a huge curtain, our Fun 21 team was quietly transforming part of the room.
Roulette wheel ready.
Blackjack table ready.
Fun money ready.
And absolutely no real gambling involved – just plenty of competitive fun.
The wedding casino had been kept as a surprise, so when the curtain opened and the fun money began being handed out, guests suddenly discovered what Cathal had been planning since January.
They had their own wedding casino.
The atmosphere was already high from Greener’s entertainment, and that energy transferred almost instantly to the casino tables.
The table captains arrived still proudly wearing their armbands, guests gathered around the roulette wheel and the blackjack table filled up quickly.
This was not going to be a quiet casino night.
Meet Keelan – Our Blackjack Player of the Night
There always seems to be one guest at every Fun 21 event who becomes completely invested in the game.
At Cathal and Aoife’s wedding, that person was Keelan.
An enthusiastic blackjack player from the outset, Keelan provided one of our favourite moments of the evening.
As you’ll see in the video below, his reaction to one particular blackjack hand was priceless.
You genuinely wouldn’t know from the celebration that he was playing at a fun casino where no real money was changing hands.
And that’s exactly what we love to see.
For a few moments, that blackjack table might as well have been in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, Eva Had Her Eyes on the Roulette Prize…
While Keelan was making his presence felt at blackjack, another competition was developing over at roulette.
Eva wanted that win.
Having built up an impressive stack of fun money, she wasn’t simply walking away and hoping for the best. She returned during the evening to check whether anyone had managed to knock her off the top spot.
They hadn’t.
When the final chips were counted, Eva was our roulette winner.
Capturing the Casino reactions
Another lovely part of the day was having Clionagh from For the Clickk there capturing the celebrations as they unfolded. As the couple’s wedding content creator, she caught so many of those spontaneous moments that can easily pass by in the excitement of the day – including plenty of action around our casino tables.
She also created a fantastic montage (video below) of the fun casino, capturing the reactions, laughter and competitive moments that made the evening so much fun. It was brilliant to see the casino through her lens and have those memories brought together as part of the wider story of Cathal and Aoife’s wedding day.
And There Was Still More to Come
The casino wasn’t the only surprise entertainment Cathal and Aoife had arranged.
The Professionals Wedding Band were also part of the celebrations, bringing their live wedding entertainment to Carlingford. Known for energetic performances and getting guests onto the dance floor, they were another ingredient in an evening that seemed determined not to let the atmosphere drop.
And once our final blackjack hands had been played and the roulette wheel stopped spinning, DJ Greener took control once again to carry the party late into the night.
From interactive dinner games and table captains to a surprise casino, live band and DJ, this was a wedding where entertainment wasn’t simply something saved for the end of the night.
It was woven right through the celebration.
Wedding Entertainment at Four Seasons Hotel Carlingford That Gets Guests Involved
Cathal and Aoife’s celebration is a great example of how wedding entertainment at Four Seasons Hotel Carlingford can bring guests together when different forms of entertainment complement one another.
Greener had guests laughing and interacting around their tables before the casino had even been revealed. That meant when the curtain opened, we weren’t trying to create an atmosphere from scratch – we were stepping into a room already buzzing with energy.
The casino simply gave everyone somewhere new to direct it.
And perhaps that’s why the reactions were so good.
Guests weren’t just watching entertainment. They were part of it.
From Keelan celebrating his blackjack hand to Eva keeping a close eye on that roulette leaderboard and those table captains still proudly wearing their armbands, there were little stories happening everywhere we looked.
For us, that’s what great wedding entertainment should do.
